Music for life

Learning a Musical Instrument at All Hallows Catholic College.

If your child currently learns an instrument at Primary School or if they would like to try a course of specialist instrumental or singing lessons for the first time when they start at High School, please visit <<School|>>, these lessons are provided in partnership with Music for Life – a not-for-profit music education service working in partnership with 130 schools to teach almost 4,000 pupils every week across Cheshire, Wirral and North Staffordshire. To discover more about the exciting work of Music for Life, please visit:

Specialist instrument and singing lessons fall outside the National Curriculum, so there is a charge for lessons. Full information can be found on the Music for Life website and online booking form. However, two national, quality assured, independent inspections of the service judged Music for Life to be an “outstandingly effective” service, providing “outstanding value for money” for parents. The service offers parents the facility to pay monthly, with payments for a 34 week course, for example, being spread over 12 months. [Please also note that support with the cost of lessons may be available in cases of hardship; please contact Music for Life to discuss before booking.]

Music for Life can accommodate almost any child who books a course before the summer because it designs a new timetable from scratch every year to do so. After that, additional places may be available during the year but they tend to be more limited. It is important to note that anyone wishing to try a course of lessons in September needs to book before the end of this term (certainly before August) to be sure of a place when school reopens. All new courses have a 12 week taster period, after which students can decide whether to change courses, cancel further lessons, or join the 95% of students who continue their lessons.

Involvement in music offers young people something very special. 130 schools, together with thousands of parents, young people, professional musicians and music teachers would tell you they feel Music for Life offers something special, too! Music for Life exists to engage children in high quality music making and to nurture and develop an interest many will have for life.

We are proud to have had the opportunity to work with some amazing young people over the last 21 years and hope that your child may join us soon!

PS. Don’t forget to book a place before the summer holidays for lessons to start in September!
