Ms S Sinclair – Librarian
We also have a dedicated team of student librarians who help out with issuing and returning books, as well processing new stock. Please ask if you are interested in volunteering for duty!
|The Wiseman Library is home to over 6,000 items including books, magazines and some media items that support learning across the curriculum as well as provide interesting material for reading for pleasure.
*Please note that we are undergoing a period of change and lots of our resources are being updated and services and facilities developed.
The library stocks a wide range of fiction books for students in Years 7-13. Books are categorised under genre and age range so everyone can easily find something suitable to read! We also supply a number of books on CD and books for students with additional learning needs (EG larger print, coloured pages) to make texts more accessible.
We also stock reference books and non-fiction books for all of the subjects in our curriculum, from KS3 to KS5. Many books in our library have been selected by our teaching staff so they are up to date and relevant to the subjects taught in school. We also have a number of journals, newspapers and magazines so you can keep up to date with recent events around the world.
e-books and resources
The library has purchased a number of iPads to allow students to read a greater range of texts. These are currently on a rolling rota amongst KS4 forms to use during the form reading time.
We also subscribe to student news website ‘The Day’ – click on the link here to visit the website for yourself.
